This image is a lesson in never going anywhere without your camera.  It was a pleasant Saturday morning in the spring and we were sitting outside on the deck drinking our morning coffee.  Our balcony overlooks an overlooks an open area with a large population of rabbits and, I suppose, other small mammalian critters.  As we were chatting and sipping coffee a hawk flew overhead.  At first it perched on the apartment building next door.  Flitting from one perch to another on the building it finally flew towards our building and perched on my daughters bedroom balcony, less than 15 feet away.  I just happened to have my camera beside me.  In fact I had been shooting pictures all along as the hawk seemed to draw closer to where we were sitting.  This shot is one of the results of having my camera at my side always.
